Ignite the Dawn
The archangel Avacyn has returned! A bright, fiery dawn banishes Innistrad’s shadows. Humanity takes up arms and drives back the creatures of the night. With flights of angels overhead, the righteous band together and wield holy light and miraculous magic to restore the balance of their world.

[Special Event] JourneyQuest Web Show Viewing

FREE Web Series Showing
Saturday October 29, 12noon and 2pm

What do a cowardly Wizard, a dead Cleric, a beautiful elven archer, and a knight who kills for honor have in common? JourneyQuest! Stop in at Chimera Hobby Shop on October 29 for a viewing of Season 1 and learn why killing equals honor!

JourneyQuest is a fantasy comedy Web series from the creators of The Gamers and The Gamers: Dorkness Rising that follows a group of dysfunctional adventurers on a quest to discover and destroy the mythical Sword of Fighting. JourneyQuest is a comedic adventure through the fantasy world of Fartherall, where intellectual orcs, incompetent wizards, and holy zombies form the living (and not-so-living) backdrop to an epic story of unrequited love, burning passions, and severely reluctant heroism. And running away. Lots of running away…

There will be two FREE showings of the first complete season of the Web-based series, one at noon, the other at 2:00. Both showings will be in one of the RPG rooms in the back hallway.

More information on JourneyQuest can be found at http://www.journey-quest.com/

[Event] Labyrinth Lord Results 12/5/10

Due to short notice, we only had two players this first session... but then, the mightiest oak starts as a mere tiny little acorn, so a small start can be a good start!

The two adventurers, Madwarf "The Axe" (2nd level Dwarf) and Marlar (3rd level Elf) ventured into the Dungeons Beneath the Ruins of Xylarthen's Tower, within spitting distance of Haelyx, the second-largest of the Towns of the Wastelands.

Xylarthen was one of the local Wizard-Kings during the Thousand Year War that ruined the Realm. His tower was cast down by a great enemy, and he either died, fled, or was captured; the legends do not say. But the dungeons beneath the ruined tower have served as a home for bandits and monsters in the century since, and are said to still house a great deal of Xylarthen's wealth... and as our heroes were down to their last few pieces of gold, they wanted some of that wealth!

[Note: I used the maps from Jeff Rients' adventure, Under Xylarthen's Tower, but filled the rooms using the random Labyrinth Stocking Table on page 124 of the Labyrinth Lord book]

Encounters in the labyrinthine ruins included three hobgoblins; three morlocks; two adult albino apes and two whelps; six kobolds; an acid trap (singed the dwarf's beard, it did); three stirges (that caused more damage than all other monsters encountered together!); and a rune-covered doorknob that, when touched, teleported the victim to a "holding room", a location that no longer existed, as the room was on the 2nd level of the tower (nasty fall, that was)! Treasure recovered included more than 400 gp in gems, more than 2,500 silver pieces, a handful of copper pieces, and a few old weapons (liberated from their wielders), that when sold to the local traders were worth a few pieces of gold.

A fun time was had by all! We will be continuing our Labyrinth Lord adventures every Sunday, from noon to 5pm, here at Chimera Hobby Appleton. Feel free to drop in and play any time; character creation takes less than 10 minutes, and we even have dice, pencils, and character sheets for you to use.
